There are people that when using the TRAM enjoy the trip listening to music, watching throught the window, talking to the person next seat or chatting on the mobile. Other ones, like David Aceituno, take advantage of the route to observe what is happening around and from these observations drawings that sweat reality are born, drawings that explain the day-to-day in the public transport.
David is an Urban Sketcher and the TRAM is a great source of inspiration: "I draw mainly people. There are a lot of people of all kinds and that is fantastic for practicing. I like to include elements of the public transport in the drawing, specially the fastening bars".
Although this amateur illustrator draws also in restaurants, cafes, parks or any place which provides an interseting subject, he has a preference for old people.
The manifest of this community of artists called Urban Sketching and born a decade ago in Seattle, is to show the world one drawing at a time and it involves to draw always live, capturing the spaces and events where the urban sketcher is. According to David: "it is a very versatile way to take on a drawing as it accepts any technique, tools and medium!"
Drawing inside the public transport, David observes many attitudes that attract his attention and invite him to undertake philosophical considerations, like when all the people is immersed in his mobile phone and this leads him to think about the lack of communication and the loneliness.
David Aceituno thinks that life is just too short and he will never stop drawing. He has done it as since as far as he can remember: as a little child he has always drawn; later on he had luck with some good teachers that helped him to improve the technique and ever since his is searching new challenges, now it is Urban Sketching, tomorrow who know's!
